August Bucket List Ideas
1. Chase the Perseid Meteor Shower (Aug 11–13)
Lay under a dark sky, set your camera to long exposure, and wish on the most magical shooting stars of the year.
2. Road Trip to a National Park
Crowds start thinning in late August. Perfect time for sunrise hikes, epic waterfalls, and dreamy golden hour shots.
3. Paddle into Sunrise or Sunset
Kayak, canoe, or paddleboard - it’s one of the best ways to soak up the last warm evenings. Bonus: reflections are photographer gold.
4. Camp Under the Stars
Even if it’s just in your backyard, set up a tent, make s’mores, and try your hand at some astrophotography.
5. Hunt for a Summer Festival
From food and wine fests to quirky small-town parades, August is packed with unique local events perfect for candid photography.
6. Tackle a New Hike or Outdoor Challenge
Check a local trail off your list.
7. Take a “Splash Adventure”
Find a waterfall, natural swimming hole, or lazy river. Don’t forget the waterproof camera gear!
8. Sunrise Photo Mission
Set the alarm for that magical, hazy August sunrise. Bring coffee, a blanket, and your camera - you won’t regret it.
9. Do a “One-Tank Trip”
Pick somewhere you can reach on a single tank of gas. No planes, no stress, just spontaneous adventure.
10. Create a Summer Memory Capsule
Print a few of your favorite summer photos, collect tickets, sand, or small souvenirs, and tuck them away to remember the season.

Adventure Amazon Product for August
When I hiked the Grand Canyon in the summer heat, the Tilley Wanderer was a total lifesaver.
Not only did it keep the blazing sun off my face, but I’ll admit - I even used it to cover my sweaty, tomato-red face when I needed a break (real talk, right?).
With all the heartbreaking wildfires happening this summer, I’ve been thinking a lot about how we enjoy these wild spaces while also protecting ourselves and appreciating every adventure we get to have.
This hat has quickly become one of my must-haves: it’s sun-protective, water-repellent, packable, and rugged enough for anything on your bucket list.
Have an Adventurous August!
Until next time, keep chasing those bucket list dreams - even if they’re right in your own backyard.
