Hey Reader,
I appreciate your patience as I took a short break! My cousin got married and I've been traveling like crazy!
To ease back into the adventurous spirt, I'd figure we would do something fun!
So...Welcome to Bucket List Thursday!
Let's go over...
🌎 One Epic Adventure
🥾 One Mini Adventure
📸 One Photo Challenge
✨ One Mermaid's Note
The goal? To help you create and capture a life worth photographing.
Epic Adventure
Hike Half Dome in Yosemite National Park
If you've ever wanted to feel like the main character in your own adventure movie, Half Dome is it.
The hike is long, challenging, and absolutely unforgettable. After miles of climbing through Yosemite's wilderness, you'll eventually reach the famous cables that lead to the summit.
Standing on top feels like you've reached the edge of the world.
Best Time to Go: Late spring through early fall
Photography Tip: Don't just photograph the view. Turn around and photograph the people climbing the cables. It tells a much more powerful story.
Mini Adventure
Catch One Sunrise This Week
No flights. No permits. No expensive gear.
Just one sunrise.
Find a local overlook, trail, lake, beach, or even your favorite coffee shop and watch the day begin.
It's amazing how different the world feels before most people wake up.
Bonus points if you leave your phone in your pocket for the first five minutes and simply enjoy it.
This Week's Photo Challenge
Leading Lines
Look for something that naturally guides your viewer's eye through the image:
• Trails
• Roads
• Fences
• Rivers
• Boardwalks
• Architecture
Try using those lines to lead toward your main subject.
Reply to this email with your favorite image. I'd love to see what you create.
🧜🏻♀️ Mermaid's Note
One of the biggest myths about adventure is that it starts when you board a plane.
I've traveled to more than 45 countries, hiked some incredible trails, and photographed places I once only dreamed about.
But here's the funny thing:
Some of my favorite memories happened close to home.
Adventure isn't always about going farther. Sometimes it's about paying closer attention.
Photography has taught me that the most interesting moments are often hiding in plain sight, waiting for someone curious enough to notice them.
This week, don't wait for the perfect trip.
Go find something worth photographing.
Until next Thursday,
🧜♀️ Alexandra Lauren
